Show & Tell: My Engagment Photos!

Thursday, June 6, 2013

Matt and I had so much fun taking these engagement photos (much to Matt's surprise!) Mainly because of our awesome photographer, Adam Nyholt and a little bit to do with some adult beverages to start off with to ease our nerves of getting our photo taken!

We started out at Cottonwood in the GOOF, then headed downtown to get some shots of us in the Houston Ballet's Center for Dance Bridge, walked along the Bayou downtown and ended on top of a parking garage!

Check out more pics on Adam Nyholt's blog

(and leave a comment on Adam's blog for us please!)

Outfit Obsession- NYC

Monday, November 12, 2012

I'm headed to NYC for my birthday this year and I am so so soooo excited, for a number of reasons... but especially for the SHOPPING!!!! I have a lot to accomplish in a weekend and therefore, I have mapped my SOHO shopping day. (can we say OCD) I have even mapped out the stores that I will most likely not be able to afford anything in but want to see their displays and how they styled the store. I look at it like a gallery, like my museums of style. Walking through the high-end designer stores will give me an idea of what I should be looking for in the less expensive stores. This will help me find the best options and items for my money.

The Pants - are probably my #1 MUST HAVE item for this season and no matter your age you can pull off these versatile pants. These Blank Denim Vegan-Leather Moto Skinny pants ($88) via Shopbop.com are a great alternative to the other high priced leather pants that you could spend up to $1,000 on.

The Shirt - If you didn't purchase the Chambray shirt (Chambray is just a fancy word for light weight denim) this summer then here is a fab one to buy now for only $59, BDG Colorblock Chambray Shirt via Urban Outfitters. This is also a good buy because it will transition into Spring. On the spring runways chambray, denim and were very prevalent.

The Sweater - J. Crew has the best quality sweaters for the price. Warm yourself in this classic J. Crew Cabridge Cable Crewneck Sweater, $125 (shown above in Antique White).

The Shoes - The mix of prep and edge is perfect in this outfit and adding the motorcycle flat boots just seals the deal. I have been wearing these Biker Low Cut Boots ($99) from Zara for about a month now and love them.

The Jewelry -  Grab this $16.99 Boyfriend Style Bangle Watch (Rose Gold) by Geneva Watch Group via Target, inexpensive enough that you could grab one in yellow gold too for different looks. Then play with this set of Midas Touch Bangles for $19.99 via ShopRuche.com. Rose gold, yellow gold, bronzed and silver wear them all or just a few but best to keep the numbers odd when wearing multiple bangles.

The Bag - Doctor bags are on trend for this season and here is a good under $100 option. ASOS Collection Doctor bag ($61.57) via ASOS, the longer shoulder strap makes this a great shopping bag.

Milano Style Outfit Obsession

Monday, October 22, 2012

When I was living in Milano, Italy for the summer I was constantly amazed at how effortlessly polished the Italian women were. This image reminds me of the way they dressed and how to get the look for yourself. I know I will be trying this look!

The Shirt - Trouve Pocket Shirt ($78) via Nordstrom. The key when imitating this outfit is make sure to wear a button down shirt with dark/black buttons. Lighter buttons would change the look too much and would not be very Milano style.

The Skirt - Pencil Skirt it Dogtooth ($31.66) via ASOS US

The Necklaces -
Vanessa Mooney, The Zelda Large Cross Necklace ($106) via Shopbop.com
Spike and Pearl Necklace ($14) via Topshop US

The Shoes - Michael Kors High-Heeled Sandals ($348) via YOOX.com.

The Bag - Studded Pony Skin Clutch Bag ($99) via ZARA

If you like this outfit and try a version of it yourself with guidance from this blog, Please send me a photo of yourself in it. I would love to included Success Stories!

Balmain Runway Look for Less!

Friday, October 19, 2012

This Balmain Runway Look isn't from the recent shows but it is a very Now look that I love! Metallic and Whites are great for this Fall season and the White Blazer will transition perfectly into Spring 2013. I know that is too far away to think about but it is a good thing to keep in mind when you are debating on what to actually buy, basically this will last longer then one season's trend.

The Pants - Jbrand 901 Super Skinny Jeans ($144.90) via Saks Fifth Avenue. Roll the pants up or not, will also go great with booties, boots and super cute with some converse tennis shoes and an old t-shirt and white blazer.

The Blazer - Tall Ponte Blazer ($70) via Topshop US. Scrunch up the sleeves or wear it normal. It is machine washable but I tend to always dry clean items like this to help keep their shape!

The Shirt - New Forever T-shirt ($26.39) via ASOS US. Great everyday shirt.

The Belt - Pieces Brisa Leather Skinny Belt ($24.63) via ASOS US.

The Shoes - Steve Madden Intrude Suede Pumps ($69.99) via Dillards.

The Clutch - MeDusa Mini Clutch ($150.88) via Boticca. I think this has a very Blamain feel to it.

East Coast for Labor Day

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

This Labor Day I am headed up to Nantucket for a family trip. I am super excited for some East Coast cuisine, fresh air and look forward to spending time with my extended family.

When packing for a trip I always like to create outfits first and then imagine myself as a magazine editor or think of how I would style a photo shoot.  Start of with everything you would want for your outfits and then slowly edit out the repeats or non essentials. Here is what I am wanting to wear and where I am starting with my packing. Keep in mind I am not really a Preppy East Coast dresser so I have added my flair to traditional Americano attire.
