Street Style Looks from London Fashion Week

London Baby! I have to say that London Fashion Week probably produces my favorite runway shows. Burberry Prorsum, Erdem, Roksanda, well the list would go on and on but another fabulous thing is the Street Style Looks from the attendees of the fashion shows.

The looks from the London Street are always a bit funkier and tucked in at the same time. Polished but grungy. I like to compare it similar to their dry sense of humor, not everyone gets it but that is why I love it even more.

Must Have: The Poncho Blanket

Friday, September 12, 2014

Everyone saw this fabulous outfit Olivia Palermo wore at New York Fashion Week this past week.

The Poncho Blanket Look is here!
It is a take on 1970's Folk Style. Think Penny Lane in today's world.

Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear Runway Looks

#Ponchoblanket RUNWAY LOOKS

Look to the runway looks for inspiration. If you have the checking account to purchase these looks then good for you, you bad ass!

But for the rest of us, here are some Street Style looks to inspire  you to take the runway idea and apply it to your everyday lifestyle.

Street Style Looks

#Ponchoblanket

Obviously, the poncho blanket looks awesome with jeans, which typically means it will pair perfectly with any jean pant; leather, distressed, black, etc.

Key to remember is this is your statement piece for the outfit. Don't try to add too much more otherwise you will start looking like you are wear a costume, instead of a fashion forward outfit.

To make it a basic, get one in neutral color; nude, black, grey, even a dark green would be good.

I love this piece for the very transitional aspect it provides to your wardrobe and it just looks so damn comfortable.... and chic! and isn't that what we all really want in the end.
To be comfortable and look fabulous.

Thank you Joan Rivers!

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Joan Rivers will surely be missed!

I admired Joan so much for all the things she said, because a lot of the time I am thinking the same thing but chicken out to actually say it. Her relationship with her daughter Melissa in particular reminds me of my very close relationship with my mother and how I always hope we will be as close as they are... were. But in my mother and I's relationship, I am indeed the Joan and she is the Melissa. I am so sad that I will never get the chance to possibly meet her. But I thank her for being herself always and inspiring me to be more of me all the time with no regrets!

So let's all be a little bit more like Joan....

Say what we want, when we want without apology (in good spirits of course),

Laugh constantly at ourselves and with our loved ones,

&

Do what we love and do it fiercely,

A few of my favorite Joan River's quotes ...

“I don’t exercise. If God had wanted me to bend over, he would have put diamonds on the floor.”

"People say that money is not the key to happiness, but I always figured if you have enough money, you can have a key made."

“The first time I see a jogger smiling, I’ll consider it.”

"Never be afraid to laugh at yourself, after all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century."

and my all time favorite...

"Life's a Bitch and so am I"

RIP Joan Rivers

Street Style Looks from #NYFW

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

I love fashion week for the runway shows obviously, but my real secret treat is looking at all the street style photographs of the attendees. Since fashion is already a season ahead, it is nice to see what the fashionista's are wearing right this minute.

What I have noticed looking at this specific New York's Fashion Week is a very casual theme from everyone. Either it has been one hot week or the casual times have finally affected and reached the fashionista's. Don't get me wrong, I love a casual chic look but it does surprise me to see all the glitterati in such casual outfits for fashion week.

Here are some of my favorite Street Style Looks so far...

Things we learned from last night's #Metball

Either you are wearing a Crop top dress OR you are rocking the low-cut V!

Crop-Top Gowns

I seriously can not get enough of this chic street-style look in a gown style!!!

Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel via Vogue.com

Anne Hathaway in Calvin Klein via Vogue.com
Although I like this look, I think it would be better on someone else. It is not as flattering on Anne or maybe it is the way she is standing.

Emma Stone in Thakoon via Vogue.com
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! She is a younger, red head version of Leslie Mann.

Winner of Crop Top Dress Look....

Rihanna in custom-made Stella McCartney via Vogue.com
She is amazing in this!!!  Just perfect! The Top part is all Rihanna and modern, while the bottom part is reminiscent of Charles James "Diamond" gown.

The #MetGala Theme Was What...?

So besides FIT & Parson's design students who knew exactly what the 2014 Met Ball theme... Charles James: Beyond Fashion really meant?

OK I can admit, I had no idea! and from the looks at all the totally random (but beautiful) dresses, gown, and crop tops, I had no idea what the theme was supposed to translate too. So of course, I did a little search to find out more.

Charles James: Beyond Fashion

Charles James is known as on of American's greatest Haute Couture Designers. His gowns became popular with High Society Ladies in the late 1940's and mid 1950's.  "Personally draping and constructing the garments that bear his label, he is considered to be the only American to work in the true couture tradition." *

I am not sure I love this but it does work with the theme and she still looks gorgeous in it! Making a classic look and feel so modern is nice.

Others dressed with the theme in mind but it appears they forgot everything and anything else...

WHY? and WTF?

Katie Holmes in Marchesa via Vogue.com

.... or as we have previously known this look, Disney's Bell

I am not sure why this looks so incredibly horrible and like a Disney character. I think even Suri would have said something about it, but maybe Suri is pissed at her mom and got a good laugh out of it.

On the runway it looks rich and Spanish influenced, like something Frida would wear. Katie clearly screwed it up, lol!@

Hayden Panettiere in Dennis Basso via Vogue.com

I mean why did she even attend. Clearly she could care less,  and was also going for a Disney princess look.

What do you think about last nights theme and what people were wearing??
