Must Have Clutch

Monday, August 27, 2012

I LOVE my Yves Saint Laurent "Belle de Jour' Envelope Clutch and it is on trend for this upcoming season.

A couple of years ago I received my first YSL 'Belle de Jour' large envelope clutch in black with metallic silver (I have the matching shoes too!) and then last year I purchased another one in nude patent leather (shown below), my staple clutch. Even a few of my friends have one too. It is has really become my go to clutch from everything from a luncheon, night out causal or dresses or even a more formal affair.

Yves Saint Lauren 'Belle de Jour' Large Patent Leather Envelope Clutch in Carne ($595) via Nordstrom.com

I see a lot of women carrying a large purse and then an even larger work bag/laptop etc. The envelope clutch is an elegant and simple way to lessen your carrying load. Put your keys, cash, cards, lipstick, cell phone etc in your envelope clutch. Then put all the larger stuff for work in the other bag. Then put your envelope clutch back into your larger bag and head out the door. When it is time for lunch or after hour drinks/dinner you just grab your envelope clutch.
A timeless piece to add to your wardrobe & definitely worth the price!

The 'Belle de Jour' Clutch comes in regular leather or patent leather and numerous different colors and in small or large (personally I think large is better).

Silver Metallic ($650) via Nordstrom.com

Metallic Oro Rame ($725) via Nordstrom.com

Patent Nero ($595) via Nordstrom.com

"I think the idea of mixing luxury and mass-market fashion is very modern - wearing head-to-toe designer has become a bit passe. It's a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It's all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together. "

East Coast for Labor Day

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

This Labor Day I am headed up to Nantucket for a family trip. I am super excited for some East Coast cuisine, fresh air and look forward to spending time with my extended family.

When packing for a trip I always like to create outfits first and then imagine myself as a magazine editor or think of how I would style a photo shoot.  Start of with everything you would want for your outfits and then slowly edit out the repeats or non essentials. Here is what I am wanting to wear and where I am starting with my packing. Keep in mind I am not really a Preppy East Coast dresser so I have added my flair to traditional Americano attire.

Must Have Item - Peplum

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Shown on the Fall 2012 RTW and Couture runways, the Peplum silhouette makes it's come back and it's sophisticated and ladylike as ever. The word peplum even sounds polished and poised and that is exactly what this must have item will add to any outfit this season.

                        Warning!!!

This silhouette is gorgeous on most, adding just the right amount of curves to the long-waist ladies and looks even better on the hour-glass figure. BUT beware Short-waist ladies, the peplum silhouette can cut up and distort your figure! The key in wearing this is to keep an eye out where the start to the flare and/or ruffle is on your waist line. Sometimes it is better for the break to happen above or below your natural waist line. This will allow the illusion that your waist is more proportionate and will elongate your silhouette.

How to wear the peplum silhouette

As a top...

with a pencil skirt, skinny jeans or pants

As a jacket...

it can be over-sized or cut clean

As a skirt...

try color blocking or mix and match patterns and prints

As a dress...

the ultimate lady like way, think Audrey Hepburn!
